Focus of research
My goal is to make the best use of available medical data and clinical expertise to address important health care issues for both caregivers and patients. My background in statistics and as a medical doctor helps me to achieve this in collaboration with expert colleagues.
My current research focus is on prediction modeling for prognosis and personalized treatment effects. This is an active area of research at the interface of classical prediction modeling research and causal inference. I am working on both the development and implementation of novel analysis techniques that extend and improve the available tools for personalized prediction.
Specialization
Prediction model development and evaluation; causal inference; survival analysis
Applied Work
I'm a member of the medical ethics committee of the Amsterdam UMC, coordinate a statistics course for our Master of Personalized Medicine, and work as a statistical consultant within the Amsterdam UMC.
